Life for Lives

Life for Lives is a documentary film on the life and vocation of Kannan, a forest watcher at the Periyar Tiger Reserve in Kerala. Kannan has been working at the reserve for over 35 years and he is a vital cog in the Forest Department’s conservation efforts. He has exceptional knowledge about the flora and fauna in the forest and knows every nook and corner of the Reserve.

This film is a journey along with Kannan enroute to his designated station in the forest showcasing this man’s passion and commitment towards wildlife conservation. Kannan’s passion towards wildlife conservation has attracted and inspired nature lovers across the globe and he enjoys the friendship of many celebrated naturalists and nature photographers. A few of them share their admiration about Kannan in this film.

Through this documentary film, we intend to show the existence of people like Kannan who has dedicated his life to protect wildlife. We hope this film will inspire others to understand the importance of conservation and motivate them to do their bit.
